Hey, I’m Tawny!

I'm a free-spirited, kind of hippie, other-culture-loving, Vespa-obsessed mid-twenties girl with a passion for ending global poverty, abolishing sex trafficking, and keeping mamas with their babies. My husband and I strive to advocate for & pursue a slower, more ethical lifestyle, so I created this blog as a place for others who are passionate about world change to connect with Fair Trade artisan women (and men) around the world & help them support their families.

October took me to the Dominican Republic on a life-changing trip with @tradesofhope , where I was filming OOTDs on rooftops, beaches, & in the @bateygirls workshop. I think it's going to take a while to top that honestly. 😘

It also brought in cool temps a couple days after the Hurricane (remember that? 😅) where I got to actually wear some Fall looks. 🥰

I hosted a Murder Mystery Dinner Party & got a second wear out of one of my favorite thrifted dress scores ever. 😍

A lot of these looks have yet to grace my feed, but they're coming! 👀

My church OOTD. 🍂🍁 I was going for Fall vibes since next weekend it's pretty much time for Christmas. 🙃

I love that it's getting cooler here in Florida & I can start wearing my skirts again! They make it seem like I tried so hard even though they're super comfy and easy to slip on. ☺️

I love the way wearing them makes me feel! 👸And they're made by sewists in Togo, West Africa who can support their families thanks to the Fair Wage Job they have making them! 🥰

I finished off the look with my Fair Trade @tradesofhope accessories, like my Bucket Bag, Indian Rose Bracelet, & Sari Hope Hoops, (and my retired Esther Necklace, the first TOH piece I ever owned ♥️) all made in India.
My other bracelets are made in the DR & Haiti. ♥️

Come along with me as I go to a @tradesofhope pop-up this morning!

I was super excited when my mother-in-law reached out after my trip to the Dominican Republic and wanted me to share with her friends about my time there. 🥰

We got together for a few hours on Saturday morning and had a little Hope Tea Party. ☕🫖

Now we have some new #hopegirls in our world changing community who shopped & know where to shop to keep creating change in this world! 💪🛍️

It was easy, fun, and so impactful! And the ripple effect gets to continue on with another pop-up booked and coming up in November!

It’s been 2 weeks since I traveled to meet these

It’s been 2 weeks since I traveled to meet these beautiful girls in the Dominican Republic.

I chose this video to share since these specific girls (except for one who is in training and turns 18 soon!) are now adults working in our jewelry workshop. There are 15 more girls (children, teens) who live in the safe home.

Between them, they have had to endure things that no one, especially children, should have to endure.

Things that I am so blessed to have never had to experience... Simply because I was born into a loving family and a culture that's not okay with certain things.

My life isn't perfect, but I’ve never been forced to give birth without proper medical care at 12 years old and suffered the loss of a newborn because of discrimination.

I’ve never experienced physical or sexual abuse by family members or strangers.

I've never, as a pre-teen, been sold by my mother to a man 50 years older than me to be his "wife".

But, the one thing we have in common is a Heavenly Father who loves us and is a Redeemer.

These girls are overcomers. They have inspired me to have more faith.

They are an example to each other and everyone they meet. I have no doubt God has big plans for them.

These are just a few snippets of a few stories, but there are so many other girls that are in the same situations that need help & to be rescued.

I’m so thankful for @bateyrehabproject and the work they are doing in the Dominican. They can’t do it alone. They need our help. If you are interested in supporting these beautiful girls, there are many ways you can help.

It's Fall, Y'all! And not even Delulu Florida Girl Fall, because it has actually been a chilly, windy day here in central Florida. 🍁🍂

With the leaves fallen & drying out on the ground after the Hurricane last week, were really getting the full effect. 👌🥰

Hats, boots, & scarves are totally my thing, so any chance I can get to bundle up and embrace the fall vibes, I'm there. I'm even wearing fleece-lined tights with this thrifted dress, feel free to judge me, I know I'm a pansy about the cold. 🙃😅

I'm wearing some bracelets made by the girls in the Dominican Republic because I miss them. 😭

Left part of my heart in the Dominican Republic. ♥️ Truly, I'm not the same woman I was on Wednesday.

These are the girls in the trafficking safe home (the only shelter for minors in the south of the country and one of only 4 ministries in the country working in anti-trafficking) that we support with my work with Trades of Hope. ♥️

I sat with them and listened to them share their stories through tears. Little girls shouldn't have stories like theirs.

I stood with them and listened to them pray with conviction, worship God for his Faithfulness in their life, and dance in the freedom they have in Christ.

There is so much work to be done to fight the issue of child marriage & trafficking.

There is so much that has been accomplished.

I know with confidence that these girls are safe & loved...now.

But there are so many other girls who are not...yet.

We can do something about it right here, right now. Now that we know, we must share with others.

It's heavy. But in the midst there's so much joy.

The redemption story is full of Hope.

I'm processing, and I'm gonna take action.

Time to get back to work. 💪👭
