Happy Fair Trade Friday! It’s the first day of fall, ya’ll! Luke and I had fun passes to Busch Gardens last fall thanks to my parents, and I had been LOVING the decor there. I just knew that we needed to take some photos there so I could feel like I was visiting the middle east like a travel blogger. So I present to you: my budget travel blogger photoshoot. 😉 Stay tuned for the photos we take when we actually visit the middle east… Morocco is SO HIGH on my bucket list, I’ve been drooling over images from there lately! Check out the artisan stories of the products I’m wearing below!
I love wearing the captivating wrap, technically a wrap bracelet, as a headband! It’s very comfortable, and stays in place well unlike other headbands I try to wear and frizz my hair up. It also rests on my head without giving me a headache, which is very hard to find! It also matches almost every outfit since it includes so many colors!
Truly captivating with 3 metallic tones – copper, silver, and gold – this wrap bracelet closes with a brown cord.
In remote areas of Thailand, we focus on restoring the strength of women in their country as artists. Your purchase empowers a diverse people, from the Karen Hill tribe, the Thai people, and the Hmong women. In this area, jobs are limited. Many women have to move to the city to find work and have to leave their children. Your purchase will help mothers stay in their hometown and earn an income, allowing them to take care of their children and watch them grow up!
I’m wearing the May Lee Necklace, which I fell IN LOVE with when I heard the stories of the ladies who make it. We can’t say which country it is made in for security reasons with the country’s government, but what I can say is that it is a very large country and population with a huge human trafficking problem.
White quartz stones are adorned on this antiqued brass chain creating an edgy yet casual pendant.
In Asia, poverty leads many women to be sexually exploited in brothels. These women want to provide for their families but have so few options. But through your purchase, women are being rescued from these brothels and rehabilitated. Holistic care is given to these women, including a shelter, job training, healthcare, counseling, and educational grants for themselves and their children. You can help these women experience restoration for their future!
The last product I want to talk about is my Odyssey Bag! You know I love this bag, it’s made from partial leather and is my go-to. It’s very high quality, durable, and holds a lot!
The artisan group that create this gorgeous bag have been empowered to become self reliant and economically independent. These artisans were once working in the mainstream market and experienced unfair wages and exploitation, but through this group they are now paid a fair wage which is changing their lives. Through their work they can now pay for food, education and other expenses to make a better life for themselves and for their families. It is our hope that through the production of these products these Artisans will break free from poverty and continue to gain confidence and dignity by being a part of this group.
Leave a comment below of a country or area of the world that you’ve been having some strong wanderlust for lately! I love wearing these products because I feel close to the artisans who made them, like I’m visiting them in their home every day!
